Clinical assessment

Patellofemoral pain is considered a multifactorial condition, that is, several factors may be associated with the development and worsening of the condition.

Due to the multifactorial nature of the condition, patients with patellofemoral pain may have different impairments, and consequently, a comprehensive clinical assessment of the patient is essential to develop an individualized treatment plan targeting patients’ impairments.

The clinical assessement of the patient with patellofemoral pain patient should include the assessment of the following components: Anamnesis and important questionnaires, Overweight and obesity, Movement pattern, Function and strength, Psychological factors, and Physical load, volume and intensity.
